Sony is set to add native DualShock 3 controller support to their upcoming Xperia handsets The addition of this functionality will allow users to pair their PS3 controller via USB cable and then switch to wireless via Bluetooth. A similar process which takes place with PS3 and a new controller, once paired there will be no need to connect with USB again.
Sony has long attempted to enter into the mobile phone gaming arena with the first step being Xperia Play. Its efforts with PlayStation Mobile have gotten off to a slow start, mainly because of the limited title library and small pool of supported devices. But adding things like DualShock 3 support go a long way towards making it a viable game platform from which to offer PlayStation content beyond Sony’s own hardware ecosystem.
