Spider-Man PS4 is available to play at E3 2018. Insomniac Games also revealed the first look at a whole new set of villains for Spider-Man that feature Rhino, Electro, Vulture, and Scorpion. They were joined by Mister Negative, who has already made an appearance in early gameplay footage. Aside from that, the developers have confirmed that Shocker will be a boss fight in the game but there are still many villains that haven’t been confirmed yet.
Speaking at the E3 Coliseum panel, Insomniac Games were present to talk about the game along with Marvel’s gaming division and they shared a lot of new information regarding the state of the game.
First of all, Insomniac Games explained that the game is basically near the finish line right now. They are fixing bugs and polishing the experience to make sure the game hits its release date without any major issues.
When they were asked about releasing a potential demo, just like it is present at E3, for the general public, game director Bryan Intihar refused to give an answer and simply said that right now the development team is fully committed to making sure that the game’s launch meets its target, since the release date is in 3 months.
If you have watched the E3 2018 gameplay, there is a major twist forecasted in that footage. It shows an important character that could make his way into the game but the identity of the character is a big secret. Insomniac Games said that this scene takes place in the second half of the game and as Spider-Man is about to get killed by the Sinister Six, perhaps the mysterious character will play a key role in his fate. According to Insomniac Games, this twist will change the game in a big way so they want to keep this a secret.
If you have seen the collector’s edition with for Spider-Man, it comes with a statue that is partially hidden. The character that is teased in the E3 2018 footage will be a part of the statue and Insomniac Games are trying their best to make sure it remains a secret. Even when you will get the collector’s edition at launch, the statue will be hidden in the box with the message for the player to warn them of opening it before playing the game, in order to avoid spoiling the identity of the character.
Lastly, as the panel was ending, Bryan Intihar mentioned how Sony was a great partner for them. Not only they helped in the production of Spider-Man, they played a big part in its marketing as well. The game wouldn’t have been possible if Sony weren’t involved in its production and they had full freedom to do it.
Spider-Man PS4 is set to launch on September 7th, 2018 exclusively for the PS4.
