Spyro The Dragon Trilogy Is Getting A Remake, Releasing This Year On PS4 – Rumor

Spyro The Dragon originated on the PS1. It was developed by Insomniac Games who then later worked on games like Ratchet and Clank and most recently the upcoming Spider-man PS4. These were critically acclaimed platformers of their time with the unique approach to open level design. Spyro The Dragon ended up being incredibly successful spanning a whole trilogy and continued with mutliple games and spin-offs based on the brand.

Just like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro The Dragon appears to be pretty strong on nostalgia for many people and now a recent rumor from Kotaku suggests that Activision is working on a remake for the game in the same vein as the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Remake, and they are planning to reveal it in March with a release window set for Q3 2018.

It is hard to dispute the rumor considering the track record of Kotaku, however the prospect of a Spyro The Dragon remaster is still interesting to consider, and just like Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, this one appears to be exclusive to the PS4. The remaster will feature ‘new assets, lighting, animations and cinematics, as well as a remastered soundtrack.’ It is also possible that Activision might add some of the cut content from the Trilogy for the remaster, just like they did it with the original Crash Bandicoot.

Let us know what do you think about a potential Spyro The Dragon trilogy in the comments below.
