Spyro Reignited Trilogy doesn’t appear to run at native 4K on Xbox One X and keeps resolution parity with the PS4 Pro.
Digital Foundry has recently conducted an analysis of the PS4 version of Spyro Reignited Trilogy and confirmed that the game runs at native 1440p on both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Even with the resolution parity, Xbox One X doesn’t offer anything unique in term of visual upgrade aside from just better shadows.
The bigger issue is that the frame pacing can hurt the overall experience because the game is 30 FPS but with frame pacing, it can appear jittery especially when moving the camera around. You can check out their full analysis to get more details.
While the more power variants of PS4 and Xbox One don’t really offer an impressive experience, the regular PS4 runs it at native 1080p while the Xbox One settles on a native 900p resolution, which is not that bad at this point in its life cycle. Load times are an issue though since the loading now takes twice the amount of time as the original games.
Spyro Reginited Trilogy features the first 3 games from the series that were originally released for the PS1. They have been fully remastered with new high-definition visuals for the current generation consoles.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is available now for the PS4 and Xbox One. It was developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision.
