Looks like we might be getting an official reveal for Square Enix’s The Avengers Project as the game’s official site just got updated with the game’s developers teasing an announcement.
Former Tomb Raider developers, Crystal Dynamics, recently updated The Avenger Project’s portal on their official website.
The page shows a press release, detailing how the upcoming game is being developed in collaboration with Shadow of the Tomb Raider developers Eidos Montreal.
Marvel Entertainment and SQUARE ENIX® have announced a new multi-year, multi-game licensing agreement to develop and publish original games based on beloved Marvel Super Heroes, beginning with The Avengers. This newly established partnership pairs the creative minds at Marvel and Square Enix for one of the most powerful alliances in interactive entertainment. The first blockbuster game is being crafted by Crystal Dynamics®, developers of the award winning TOMB RAIDER® series, in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal, the home of the critically acclaimed and award-winning DEUS EX game series.
The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.
The Avengers Project was revealed back in January of 2017 with a short sub-minute CGI trailer teasing the game. The game’s announcement came just after Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix had signed a multi-year, multi-game partnership which starts off with a game starring the earth’s mightiest heroes.
When you browse the ‘Projects’ page on Crystal Dynamic’s website, the button leading to The Avengers Project’s page has a “New” label on it, which probably means more information is on the way.
We don’t know much about The Avenger’s Project, but a recent job listing indicated the game could be for both current and next-gen consoles.
We could very well see an official reveal at The Game Awards 2018 next month as many people have been speculating. This makes sense as some Marvel Games employees have been teasing an announcement of some sort.
