Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be out next week for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. As a game, it is an improved sequel to the original and features a complete story mode, space battles and much more, however it also suffers from the recent loot box controversy that plagued games like Need for Speed Payback.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 has locked each of the Heroes and Villains in multiplayer until you progress to a certain point and have more than enough credit to unlock them, however a calculation made by reddit user TheHotterPotato shows that the credit that you earn in mutliplayer is far to low to unlock characters unless you grind for hours. He also estimated the time that will take to unlock each character and according to his calculations, it can take close to 40 hours just to earn credit necessary to unlock a character, which is ridiculous since there are a lot of characters to unlock in the game.
The spreadsheet made by user has estimated calculation based on the credit reward system and the loot crates. It goes in detail for the problem with loot boxes and basically serves as an eye opener for those who were still hoping that the game won’t add unnecessary grind for progression.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is out on November 17th for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. While the loot boxes and microtransactions have proven to be a big deal for the game, EA DICE has stated that they are looking into it so there is always the chance that they make some changes that can lower the grind or end it for the players. Hopefully this can be done before the official launch of the game.
