Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Start Offering Cosmetic Microtransactions With Next Update

EA has finally revealed their progression plan for Star Wars Battlefront 2 going forward. The company was quick to remove all traces of possible microtransactions after the intense fan backlash when the game launched last year. The backlash was so huge that it even reached the ears of Disney, who has given the license of Star Wars IP for video games to EA. This resulted in EA completely stopped any microtransactions and attempting to gain the goodwill of the fans and other players by offering free content updates.

Today, EA has now finally revealed the new progression system that will be implemented for Star Wars Battlefront 2. It is now set to launch on March 21 and will be featured in a new update. This system doesn’t add any purchasable items for progress, but rather to change the appearance of characters so it is purely cosmetic microtransactions that will be implemented from the start of April.

Starting in April, you’ll be able to get appearances directly through in-game Credits or Crystals. The first new appearances are coming soon, meaning you’ll be able to grab new looks for your heroes and troopers directly by using either Credits (earned in-game) or Crystals (available to purchase in-game and through first-party stores). If you’ve ever dreamed of being a part of the Resistance as a Rodian, your chance is right around the corner.

EA has also released a detailed FAQ clarifying any points regarding this upcoming update.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
