According to a recent report by analyst Michael Pachter, Electronic Art’s Star Wars Battlefront has sold more than 12 million copies in its first two months.
The game has most likely sold 6 million copies in its first month and then another 6 million in the second month with an average retail price of $55. The analyst also reports that in revenue, Star Wars Battlefront has made a total of $660 millions in earnings.
Another analyst, Evan Wilson of Pacific Crest Securities, reported that the game has sold 13 million copies and that most of the sales came before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and because of different discounts. EA’s COO, sometime ago, predicted that Battlefront will sell 13 million units by the end of March 2016, but if these two analysts are right, then the game’s sales are going to exceed EA’s estimate. Star Wars Battlefront was also the third highest selling game in November 2015, behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4.
Keep in mind that these numbers are not official as EA has not provided a statement regarding them but details will be revealed later this year after EA’s next earnings briefing.
Star Wars Battlefront was released on November 17, 2015 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is going to receive a major update soon which will add some online modes to single player.
