Super Mario Run has finally been released today, and is available now on iOS devices. And while the game does star Nintendo’s iconic mascot as the base playable character, you might also be aware that there are five additional characters to unlock. These characters are Toad, Peach, Yoshi, Toadette, and Luigi.
We’ll start off with the easiest of the bunch, Toad. All you need to do to unlock Toad is to link your “My Nintendo account” to Super Mario Run. Peach is a little harder, as you have to beat all 24 of the game’s World Tour levels to unlock her.
To unlock the remaining three characters you need to play the Kingdom Builder mode, which is made available when you play Toad Rally for the first time. Using Toads earned in Toad Rally, players can then go into the “Special” section of Kingdom Builder mode to purchase houses for Luigi, Yoshi and Toadette. We know, it’s really confusing, but you’ll understand when you play the game yourself.
Toads earned from Toad Rally are divided into five colors, red, blue, green, purple and yellow. Each house for the unlockable characters requires a specific number of toads, which you can find below:
Luigi House: 150 green Toads and 150 purple Toads.
Yoshi House: 30 red Toads and 30 yellow Toads.
Toadette House: 200 red Toads, 200 blue Toads, and 200 green Toads.
We suggest you fight off the urge to buy anything other than the character houses in Kingdom Builder mode until you’ve unlocked all the playable characters. It’s worth it.
As of 15th December, 2016, Super Mario Run is available on all iOS devices. An Android version of the game is set to release in 2017.
