Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s new update which patches the game to version 3.0 is available now along with the Persona 5 Joker DLC. After the release of the DLC and update, new datamining has revealed no trace or sign of Jane, which was rumored to be a female alternative to Joker.
Persona 5 is getting two new games first with Persona 5 The Royal and then Persona 5 S. One of these is confirmed for the PS4 and the other is still up in the air. Both of these might get revealed next week by Atlus.
Jane was reportedly a female version of the Joker and her appearance included Ponytails. This was determined through the in-game files where references were found complete with her name and appearance. Other references included the Mementos stage which was confirmed with the release of the DLC. She was first discovered in late March through datamine.
So there's now confirmed to be a prominent female character in P5R; and she has a ponytail! Looks like this is probably the "Jane" we'll be seeing in Smash in some form. https://t.co/OmJ2b1xWFV

Once the update was out, the reference has been all but removed from the game. Memento stage was confirmed with different variations depending on whether we are talking about Persona 3, 4, or 5.
Mementos has now been confirmed! Something I failed to point out is the fact that the string, "Jack_Menentoes_", ends in an underscore, implying there are multiple versions of the stage to be distinguished, which of course has been confirmed as well. https://t.co/X3jx7NYedH

On the other hand, there's no sign of "Jane", at least in the speculated role of alternate costume for Joker. Perhaps it really does refer to another character…maybe one of those standing in the background of Mementos? Maybe their outfits change based on Joker's costume…?

So this should put a lid on the rumor that Jane is a female character in the upcoming Persona 5 The Royal, which also lines up with what we have heard about the upcoming Persona 5 projects. It is still possible that this might be true but with a datamine like this one, we only have speculation to go on what each reference means in the actual game.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch while you can get Joker character DLC as part of the season pass or for $5.99.
