Microsoft’s Head of Marketing, Aaron Greenberg recently shared some insight on the sales of the consoles in USA during the biggest month of the year. According to Greenberg, Xbox One had the best console share in USA for the month of December. Since the Xbox One launched in November 2013, Microsoft has released a mid-generation upgrade in the form of Xbox One X that launched in November last year.
Thank you to everyone who helped support Xbox One this holiday, npdgroup just reported our highest Xbox One December console share ever, looking forward to a big 2018!
When fans asked about the best selling console in December, Greenberg clarified that while the Xbox One had its best month, Nintendo Switch was the best selling console in term of units sold. This means that despite the sales of PS4 achieving new record this Holiday, the console was in the last place in term of sales in USA during the month of December.
Was trying to just thank folks for supporting us and the incredible success following the launch of Xbox One X. But yes Xbox outsold PS4 in December for Gen 8 consoles according to NPD data, while Nintendo also had a great month as Switch had most overall units.
NPD has yet to share an official press release on the sales of consoles and games during the month of December 2017. Since there are two new hardware launches last year, it is expected to be one of the biggest Holiday period in term of console and games sold, as seen by the success of the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
