Yuzu, the popular Nintendo Switch emulator, has added disk cache support in the latest canary update.
We’ve been covering Yuzu for a while now and the emulator has been showing tremendous upgrades in each update. Fun fact, the emulator was able to play Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee (although with some bugs) just a few days after its release.
Also check out our coverage of the prior canary update which made a 40-100% speed boost across different games.
Now back to the topic at hand. We’re really excited for the disk cache as it can be used to quickly load shaders and textures from your CPU much faster as they don’t need to be built up from scratch.
Do note the emulator is still in its early stages with most games not playable yet, so this is certainly not a ready product, but the news is encouraging for the community nonetheless.
