When the developers of The Crew said they will be recreating the entire US, they weren’t kidding. At 5,000 sq km, this game has one of the largest open world maps ever. The map is so large, that it can take players any where from 90 minutes to 2 hours to drive from one coast to the other coast.
To give you an idea of just how vast the map is, take a look at the image above. This map will be bigger then Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos, Red Dead Redemption’s Wild West, Forza Horizon’s Colorado, Need for Speed Rival’s Redview County, Far Cry 3’s tropical island and Skyrim COMBINED. The map alone, makes me want to buy the game.
In an interview with TeamVVV, The Crew’s Creative Director Julian Gerighty said,“ In terms of size, our New York is about the same size as Liberty City in GTA IV, But on top of that we’ve got Chicago, Detroit, St Louis, Miami, Dallas, Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco and all of these cities – I insisted on including Detroit because of the heart of Motor City. But it’s not just these cities: it’s everything in-between. So it’s a very big game.”
The folks over at Ivory Coast have out done themselves with this one. Video game developers have started utilizing the power of the Next-Gen consoles and Ivory Tower are starting things off with an amazing game and are settings a fine example for other game developers.
The Crew is set to come out in Q3 of 2014 and it will be available on the PlayStation4, Xbox One and the PC.
