Joel was seen in a brand new artwork for The Last of Us Part 2 by Naughty Dog that seems to suggest something new.
Today is September 26th which means it is Outbreak Day in The Last of Us Part 2. This is the same day the Cordyceps infection spread in The Last of Us. Naughty Dog has celebrated this day every year and today is no exception. You can get a free dynamic theme and avatars for The Last of Us Part 2 as well.
In addition to this, Naughty Dog has now shared some screens and artwork from The Last of Us Part 2 including one that features Joel with a Wolf.
This artwork seems to follow the same pattern as the earlier Outbreak Day posters. It suggests that we might get a brand new reveal featuring Joel soon. The last 2 Outbreak posters all teased Ellie and another mysterious new character, which were then subsequently revealed in a new trailer or gameplay showcase.
This poster is made by artist Sam Wolfe Connelly for Mondotees. They have also worked on the previous two posters and this new one follows the same theme.
As for the dog companion, Naughty Dog has been using motion capture on a dog for a while now. Neil Druckmann shared an image of motion capture dog early this year which sparked this discussion in the first place.

There are atleast 2 new screenshots released for the game, one which was already shared earlier, and the second one is a part of the theme but you can download it as wallpaper. In addition to this, the original score for The Last of Us received a new artwork for the Vinyl cover.
The Last of Us Part 2 will release exclusively for the PS4. It is being developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
