The Last of Us Part 2 has been a constant source of speculation because it hasn’t received a release date despite getting announced so many years ago. We have heard multiple rumors stating that the game might launch in 2019, but is this possible?
The Last of Us Part 2 developer Naughty Dog has been working on the game even now but a recent Tweet made by one of the developers, who is the co-game director on The Last of Us Part 2, hints that the development is about to wrap up on The Last of Us Part 2.
Lot of awesome positions open to help us close out this game… I especially want to highlight the Melee Animator position, I guarantee you will be working on some *dope* animations working with my good friend @Leethul 🗡️💀 pic.twitter.com/vmlVkJlfTl

This is not the first time we have heard of the game wrapping up its production. The game director, Neil Druckmann, had shared an update on the motion capture for cutscenes confirming that they have finished shooting the last scene or end of the game.
Closing out the development of The Last of Us Part 2 shows hope for a release date getting announced soon. There is a very good chance that the game might get delayed from its rumored 2019 release window to potentially next year, but technically, this won’t be a delay since there is no official The Last of Us Part 2 release date announcement so far.
