The Last of Us Part 2 Was Planned For 2019 But Shifted To Early 2020 – Rumor

The Last of Us Part 2 along with Death Stranding were both in the headlines due to rumors surrounding their release date and a potentially new trailer. Death Stranding release date has leaked and it looks more likely that the game will be out this year but there is no update for The Last of Us Part 2.

The game was near the end of its development if we go by the tweet of one the lead devs, so it is possible that Sony wanted to release it in 2019. According to Kotaku editor Jason Schreier, this was their plan to launch the game in 2019 which could mean both Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part 2 could launch in 2019. However, last he heard about the project, it has been bumped to early 2020.

The Last of Us Part 2 along with Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding will be one of the last major PS4 exclusives to release on the console before its successor arrives in 2020.

The Last of Us Part 2 was first revealed in 2015. It is the sequel to one of the best selling new IPs from Naughty Dog. Neil Druckmann is returning again for the sequel to reprise his role as the creative director for the sequel. It was last shown with a full gameplay demo at E3 2018 and there has been complete silence regarding the project since its last major info blowout.
