If you’re playing The Witcher 3 on one of its harder difficulties, chances are that you’re on the lookout for weapons that can inflict bleeding damage. The crossbow, in particular, is useful in this regard, as you can get higher level enemies and monsters to start bleeding out from a relatively safer distance.
In order to get the effect on your crossbow, you’re going to have to craft Broadhead Bolts. The items needed to craft these special bolts as well as the complete list of their effects can be seen below:
Items Needed to Craft
- 3x Feather 1x Iron Ore
- 2x Fiber
- 1x Silver Ore
- 1x Monster Saliva
Item Effect
- Adds Bleeding damage
- +8 Silver Damage
- +8 Piercing Damage
Locations
The first thing you’ll need is the diagram required to craft Broadhead bolts. For that, head over to the location marked in the map below:
The location has a bit of a random element to it, however. If you don’t find it in the marked location, visit the second location pointed at by the coast.

Once you’ve acquired all the ingredients, head over to a blacksmith and have him craft the special bolts. You are then ready to take on much tougher, higher level enemies.
