Titanfall Producer: Titanfall is influenced by Quake, Tribes, Doom and Street Fighter

Respawn Entertainment’s TitanFall is an upcoming Xbox One title that has garnered a lot of attention these days. It has also won a lot of awards from the press. Edge recently conducted an interview with the Producer of Titanfall and asked him about various aspects of their game.

Titanfall is a first person shooter game from former Call of Duty developers. It is also coming to PC and Xbox 360 in addition to Xbox One. While it hasn’t been announced for PlayStation 4, there is a high chance that it might come to it since it is rumored to be a timed console exclusive for Microsoft.

Speaking with Edge, Respawn Entertainment’s Drew McCoy talks about the games that had a influence on the development of TitanFall. According to him, they are looking at Quake, Tribes, Doom and Street Fighter and taking them as inspiration for their game.

“Tribes for motion,” he says, “Doom and Street Fighter for Titan combat. I loved rocket-jumping, learning routes in Unreal Tournament team maps, the grapple in Tribes: Vengeance; I loved figuring out what the physics was like and how I could use it to my advantage. I think a lot of games have narrowed things down to your reaction times – who can pull the trigger faster? – and we want to open it up a bit.
