Thanks to a GameInformer cover posted by NeoGAF user “Cartman86”, we have gained information about Respawn’s new game called Titanfall. The game is set to release on the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
“Cartman86” wrote that the cover had been downloaded to his tablet by Google Play, through which he had subscribed to Game Informer. The magazine cover is for the July issue and reads “After a bitter split with Activision and Call of Duty, Respawn debuts its bold vision for next-gen multiplayer,” featuring a woman shooting at a machine.
If “Cartman86” is to be followed, the article says that the game will release in Spring 2014 and uses the Source engine. It will use Microsoft’s Cloud services for services, physics and artificial intelligence. Players will be able to pilot Titans (massive mechs, apparently) or program them to follow in battle.
Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella tweeted that “”no intention of showing up empty handed” at E3. In April, it was reported that Respawn’s next game would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and the ‘new’ Xbox. At that point, the game was called Titans. In that same month, a trademark for Titanfall was filed by Respawn.
An EA representative has said “There’s a lot more of Titanfall to be revealed. Tune in to the EA E3 press conference on Monday June 10 at 1pm PDT for the details.”
Please note that the issue can no longer be downloaded through Google Play and will give you an error.
We’ll keep you updated with more news about this exciting game soon. Expect more to be revealed at E3.
