As you must know by now Activision has decided to partner up with Sony for future Call of Duty promotions and DLC. Activision previously had this deal with Microsoft which ends today (September 3) with the release of the final DLC Pack for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare titled Reckoning on PS3 and PS4. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 all DLC will come to Playstation consoles first.
Just like the Microsoft deal, future Call of Duty DLC will release on Playstation and 30 days later on PC and Xbox platforms. The deal doesn’t just include DLC but Sony will now handle the series’ promotion which includes Call of Duty e-Sports now being shifted to the Playstation 4.
Microsoft were longtime partners with Activision starting with the release of Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. Neither company has revealed why they didn’t continue with the partnership but many speculate Activision just wanted to partner up with the side having the bigger install base.
