Crystal Dynamics: Power Of Next Generation Consoles Gives Lara A “Real-life Wow Factor”

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after more than a year of its original release.  Being a previous generation game, its graphics are getting a slight overhaul along with upgrades to its character models. Tomb Raider’s executive producer claims that the power of next generation consoles have allowed them to upgrade the visuals, giving Lara Croft a certain “real-life wow factor”.

Speaking in an interview to Polygon, Scot Amos seemed pleased with the upgrades to Lara Croft’s face and model.

“Looking at the world, we always wanted the island to feel like a character,” Amos said. “With the power of next-gen consoles, we’ve been able to make upgrades to visual and environmental storytelling. Lara now has this real-life wow factor. We’ve remapped her whole face, her textures have changed and they now react to what happens to her — when she gets wet, when she gets muddied, when she’s covered in blood…”

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 28th, 2014. It will feature enhanced graphics and full HD resolution on both next generation consoles. It will also contain all the extras and DLCs that have been released so far.
