A brand new trailer for Q-Games’ forthcoming PS4 exclusive The Tomorrow Children was revealed during this year’s on-going Tokyo Game Show. Close observation of the trailer reveals the presence of clouds in one of the promotional shots from the game. Previously footage from the game didn’t feature a prominent skybox of any sort, which leads us to believe that this is a recent addition to its visual makeup.
A screen capture from the promotional shot can be seen below.
Given the game’s use of Cascaded Voxel Cone Ray Tracing for the simulation of real-time lighting and reflections, it’s impossible for this to merely be a static skybox. Rather, given the game’s technological prowess, these are undoubtedly volumetric clouds that simulate light propagation in real-time.
