A Spartan is a highly trained soldier who is an expert in combat and survival but every Spartan needs a weapon at it’s side to defend itself from the Covenant Scum. Even with all the training, the enemy’s high-tech weaponry can be lethal for a Spartan. There is a different weapon for every situation. Whether it’s a close quarters engagement or a long range gun fight, there is a weapon for every scenario. This list consists of weapons of all types, Covenant and Spartan, of weapons that were frequently used and were very powerful.

10. Railgun
A new weapon that 343 Industries introduced in Halo 4. This weapon walks a fine line between standard and power weapon but this gun is not perfect. This gun, like the Spartan Laser, needs a short charge time but when you get a shot off, it will be a one hit kill. But aiming this gun is no walk in the park. It requires a lot of skill but even if you don’t get a direct hit on the target, you may still cause a little damage your enemy with the splash damage.
9. DMR
This gun was a fan favourites in Halo: Reach and Halo 4. This Marksman Rifle was the replacement of the old Battle Rifle which was a little too powerful. The DMR didn’t seem too powerful to some but in the right hands, this gun could kill you before you could even react. This single shot weapon provided great precision and after a few fixes, this gun got even better.
8. Spartan Laser
Available in Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, the Spartan laser is a one of a kind weapon. Even though it needs to charge-up before you can fire it, it packs a mean punch that instantly kill your enemy. In the hands of a skills player, this gun can cause a lot of damage. This gun is highly effective against vehicles so enemies try to exit their vehicles as soon as they see the Spartan Laser’s red laser pointer being aimed at them, but it’s usually too late.
7. Sniper Rifle
The Sniper Rifle was featured in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4 and was a weapon that everyone loved and it was a lot of fun to use. This gun was lethal with it’s one shot kill to the head and a two shot kill to the body and if you came across a sniper who was an expert at no scoping enemies, well then you can do is run for your life.
6. Shotgun
Aaahhh the old shotgun. This gun needs no description. The shotgun is available in every Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4. The Shotgun is very effective at close range and can be very useful to hold down areas that give your team an advantage.
5. Battle Rifle
The Battle Rifle is one of the most used weapons in Halo. The Battle Rifle has been apart of Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 and is a fan favourite. The three burst weapon is highly effective at Medium to Long range. The Battle Rifle was the weapon of choice in Halo 2 and Halo 3. If you weren’t using a Battle Rifle then you were doing it wrong.
4. The Needler
Definitely one of the most powerful weapons in the Halo Universe. The Needler is a gun you just have to pick up when you see it of the ground. It makes an appearance in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo 4. It shoots Pink Crystals which explode once there are enough crystals embedded in the enemy’s body. It can be very very effective at close to medium range.
3. Energy Sword
Nothing strikes more fear into your heart then seeing a Spartan charging towards you with an Energy Sword in his hand. Technically, the Energy Sword first made an appearance in Halo: Combat Evolved, but players couldn’t use the weapon because when the enemies dropped it, it used to disappear but then players could finally use the sword in Halo 2 and I have to say, that was the happiest moment of my life.
2. Plasma Grenade
The Plasma Grenade makes an appearance in every Halo to date. The Plasma Grenade takes a lot of skill to use and can be very effective in the hands of a pro player. The Plasma Grenade was the first of its kind. Being able to ‘stick’ enemies was awesome and when you stuck an enemy with a Plasma Grenade you felt amazing.
1. Rocket Launcher
Coming in at the number 1 spot is the Rocket Launcher. Without a doubt, the most powerful weapon in the Halo Universe. The rocket launcher has been changed several times and there have been numerous models of the weapon. Mainly used to destroy enemy vehicles but this weapon has many other uses.
