The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III will have a brand new QOL (Quality of Life) feature that fans of the series and JRPG fans in general will really appreciate.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III was recently confirmed for a western release and we’re really excited for the next game in the Erebonia arc.
The third game in the series brought forth a ton of changes when it releases for the PS4 back in 2017 in Japan. Trails of Cold Steel III was the first Trails title to releases on current-gen consoles. Previous games were PS4 and PS Vita only. Due to dropping the PS3 and PS Vita, Trails of Cold Steel III was built from the ground up to be a much more ambitious game.
One of the additions in Trails of Cold Steel III as mentioned by Thoraxes is the dialogue history indicator. If you’ve played a Trails game before you’d know how much dialogue NPCs can have, so this indicator will help notify you if you’ve talked to the specific NPC or not. As shown in the screenshot below the indicator will turn from light blue to grey when you’ve exhausted the NPC’s dialogue options.
Unlike the previous Trails games, the The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is being localized by NISA instead of XSEED. In a recent panel they confirmed that key members from the original localization team were returning. They also revealed just how massive the Cold Steel III’s script is, a mind boggling size really.
If you’re interested in getting into the series the first two games are releasing very soon on the PS4 with a ton of extras not present in their original releases. You can read our review of the second game here. We’re certainly recommending the series as we think the Trails games are some the most underrated games ever.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III releases exclusively for PS4 sometime during Fall 2019. You can pre-order the game right now to get the Early Enrollment Edition.
