Transformers: Devastation – project led by MGR director, E3 2015 trailer shows fast paced combat

The first official teaser trailer for Transformers: Devastation has been made available by Activision at E3 2015. The publisher also confirmed that Platinum Games is the game’s developer, with the Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito at the helm of the project. The game is slated to arrive on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The E3 teaser can be seen in the video below.

Die-hard fans of the Generation 1 (G1) series will instantly recognize many of their favorite Autobots and Decepticons, including the courageous Autobot leader Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, as well as the Decepticon subgroup known as the Constructicons, who merge to form the towering Devastator.

Given the involvement of the Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito, it’s a given that the gameplay is going to feature deep combat mechanics as well as a diverse array of character movesets. The teaser shows off some of the fast paced character action combat that the developer is well-known for.

Bumblebee appears to be able to perform some kind of a mid-transformation chain attack, as well as a slide maneuver not too different from the one seen in Vanquish. There also appears to be a dodge roll that lets you evade in-coming projectiles and weapon fire.

Optimus Prime can be seen wielding an axe similar to the one he pulls out during his battle with Megatron towards the end of the first episode of the original animated TV series. For those who can’t recall, here’s a screenshot from that very episode:

We look forward to sharing more information on Transformers: Devastation in the days to come. Until then, let us know what you think of the teaser in the comments below.
