Ubisoft announces The Crew – An open world racing game

The Crew is Ubisoft’s new IP. It’s an open world racing game where players can customize their vehicles and take over rival gang’s territory.

The game is set in the United States, with areas available from all over the country. Gameplay from Miami and South Beach was shown.

Emphasis was placed on the game’s multiplayer aspect. All events will be available in either singleplayer or multiplayer modes, with little difference between them. Players will be racing with both AI and real players.

No lobbies exist. As I said, there is little difference between singleplayer and multiplayer. The game seamlessly transitions from mode to the other. According to Ubisoft, The Crew is “the biggest game ever created”.

Customization looks really good. Cars can be built from scratch and broken down, piece by piece. A representative was shown creating a car using her tablet. Customization takes place in real time.
