Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is out now in Japan and it has managed to create a new record for the series despite being released on a much smaller install base. The game has sold 124k copies in its debut week which puts it above the last two Naughty Dog games including The Last of Us and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
The debut week sales are even more impressive if we consider the fact that there is no data regarding the digital sales, which are usually around 10 to 15% of the retail sales. In any case, the retail sales alone were more than enough to make the game’s debut one of the best in the series. Here is how Uncharted 4 compares to the rest of the Naughty Dog releases.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune | 16.914 |
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves | 55.063 |
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception | 122.552 |
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End | 124.028 |
The Last of Us | 129.983 |
The Last of Us Remastered | 29.156 |
Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection | 20.118 |
Judging from the sales given above, the series has definitely maintained its fans despite the difference in userbase. It slowly grew from Uncharted 1 to 3 and The Last of Us managed to carry some of the good word from the Uncharted games to maintain a healthy debut. Although the sales of the two remaster on PS4 appear to be disappointing, but they are overshadowed by the sales of Uncharted 4.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is available now for the PS4. It was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
