Microsoft have announced that the Xbox One will be getting an update in March. The update will add support for the 5.1 optical sound, however the issue with the friends online notification will not be resolved. The issue I’m talking about is, when a friend signs in or out of Xbox Live, Xbox One owners do not get a notification about their friend’s online status.
The update does resolve the issue relating surround sound. After the update, Xbox One owner will be able to use their gaming headsets and enjoy their gaming experience to the fullest.
Since the Xbox One’s launch in November, Xbox One owners have been playing with DTS Digital Surround output over HDMI instead of 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. The option for the Dolby Digital system was not available due to software scheduling issues said, Director of Product Planning, Albert Penello. But now they can enjoy 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound.
The Xbox One party system and friends list will also be updated in the upcoming update. However, the pop up that notifies you if a friend has signed in or signed out will be coming in a later update.
The Xbox One update will be coming out before the release of one of the most anticipated game of the year, Titanfall, on the 11th of March.
