Ubisoft have just announced that their their sandbox-styled hacking game, Watch Dogs is the the most pre-ordered IP in the company’s history. Not just that, it is sets the record for the most pre-orders (of a new IP) in the entire industry this year.
As posted on the official blog, Tony Key, Senior VP Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft said,
“These strong pre-orders are a clear indication of players’ anticipation and excitement for Watch Dogs. The teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that players will enjoy a top quality game with enormous scope, and we can’t wait to get the game into their hands.
Bob Puzon, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at GameStop added
“There is massive buzz in all of our stores around Watch Dogs. Based on the current level of customer pre-orders we have received, Watch Dogs is the highest pre-ordered next-gen title to date and most pre-ordered new IP of the year.”
It was announced earlier this week that Watch Dogs has gone gold and it is set to be launched on 27th May for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Wii U version would arrive later this year although no exact date has been provided. This is without doubt, one of the most awaited game to come out this year, mainly due to the unique gamplay. Players will take the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who uses his hacking skills to control almost every element of Chicago. Thus using the surveillance systems, control systems etc to complete his task.
The game is setting records even before it has hit the shelves, lets hope this game is worth it. Well, only a couple of days till we find out!
