Microsoft has confirmed 4 new games that will be playable at a higher resolution with other improvements on the Xbox One X through backwards compatibility. These games include The Witcher 2: Assassin of the King Enhanced Edition, Crackdown 1, Fable Anniversary and Forza Horizon 1. The games will be updated today to add support for the Xbox One X hardware letting you run them at over 9x the original resolution.
In addition, users will now also get a choice to switch between the enhanced graphics or the original visuals as detailed by Major Nelson.
When you play Enhanced Xbox 360 games on Xbox One X, you can now choose how to experience them—with enhanced graphics or in their original form. Enhanced graphics will be turned on by default, running your game with higher resolution, 9X the pixel count, increased texture details and antialiasing, allowing you to enjoy greater visual clarity than ever before. If you turn off the Graphics setting, the graphics will be comparable to the experience on Xbox One or Xbox One S. Here’s how to access the setting. Note, once you change the setting, you’ll need to restart the game:
- Press “View” and “Menu” buttons on the controller to pull up the Xbox 360 guide
- Navigate to “Settings” blade
- Select “Xbox One X Settings”
The addition of these 4 new games brings the total list of Xbox One X supported games to 11 including the original Assassin’s Creed and Halo 3.
