The Witness may be headed to Xbox One

The Witness was originally announced as a PC/PS4 title, with an iOS version to follow at some point in 2016. However, it now seems that there may also be an Xbox One version in the works. The Entertainment Software Rating Board has recently rated the title for Xbox One, along with the already confirmed PlayStation 4 and PC versions.

Taking inspiration from Myst, The Witness gives player the opportunity to explore a large island that is home to several natural and man-made structures. The aim is to solve puzzles that are based on interactions with mazes presented on panels across the island. In order to solve these puzzles, players will be granted visual clues as they traverse the island. In addition, they’ll also get hints in the form of audio logs.

The game’s creator, Jonathan Blow, aims to offer very little hand holding in The Witness, as he wishes to have players come to understand the puzzles for themselves. The game is said to have a a total of around 650 puzzles, not all of which will be mandatory for progression.
The Witness is currently set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 and PC on January 26. We’ll keep you posted regarding an official announcement for the Xbox One version. In the meantime, share your thoughts on the game in the comments below.
