Xbox One launches in Japan with 29 titles, no Japan exclusive game

The Xbox One will finally release in Japan on September 4th and Microsoft have released the list of the 29 games that will be available at launch. Most of the list includes games that were available during the North America and European launch of the consoles. Titles that were released later like Titanfall are included as well. Check out the full list of the 29 games available at the Xbox One launch in Japan below:

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
Battlefield 4
Call of Duty: Ghosts (dubbed version)
Child of Light
Crimson Dragon
Dead Rising 3
FIFA 14
Forza Motorsport 5
Halo: Spartan Assault
Killer Instinct
Kinect Sports Rivals
LocoCycle
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate
Murdered: Souls Suspect
Need for Speed Rivals
Onigiri
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
Powerstar Golf
Ryse: Son of Rome
Strider
Thief
Titanfall
Tomb Raider
Trials Fusion
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Zoo Tycoon

Surprisingly even though many Japanese publishers and developers have signed on for the console there is no Japan exclusive or Japan centric game on the list. Rumors in the past suggested that Xbox One exclusive D4 by Hidetaka Suehiro would be released during the Japanese launch of the console, but it now looks like the report was false. Xbox head Phil Spencer recently talked about their strong focus on Japan and titles from the region for the Xbox One, hopefully we see some action on it too.

The Playstation 4 was released across Japan in late February to much success due to the brand’s strong history in the region. The Xbox One certainly has a challenge ahead of itself to prove its brand to be a competing force in Japan. Previous Xbox consoles have been nothing short of failures in Japan, will Microsoft be able to turn things around? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
