With Xbox 360, we had a DVD drive for it and hence the games also shipped in a DVD case and that makes sense but now with the Xbox One sporting a blu-ray drive, the game cases for the Xbox One have gotten small compared to the DVD sized game cases of the Xbox 360.
This time around, Xbox One games will come in what appears to be a standard blu-ray sized disc case. The games cases for the Xbox One now have a darker shade of green and are more translucent. Although they appear very sleek and sexy looking, game collectors might have to arrange their collection of Xbox One games separate from Xbox 360 game cases. You can see why below:
As you can see the poor Xbox One game case is small compared to its older brother who sported DVD cases at the time. Xbox One’s game cases are now of the same size as of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 game cases. Since Sony went with a bluray drive with PlayStation 3, it also moved away from using the traditional DVD sized cases for the games as it did with the PlayStation 2 which had a DVD drive.
With both the next-generation consoles soon to be launched we will have a pretty four way comparison soon between Xbox 360 vs PlayStation 3 vs Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 in terms of game cases.
