Xenoblade Chronicles 2 visuals improved in Portable Mode with Torna – The Golden Country DLC

Xenoblade Chronicle 2: Torna – The Golden Country not only includes a lot of new content but seemingly improves the game’s visuals in Portable Mode.

Compared to many other games for the Nintendo Switch like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s portable mode performance was really lackluster. It was really noticeable once someone plays the game Docked for a couple of hours.

When the game came out fans immediately noticed how better Torna looked. Xenoblade Chronicle 2: Torna – The Golden Country runs on a new Rendering Engine, making the Portable Mode performance much better. The major thing I noticed was the game looked better in motion, probably running a few FPS higher although I couldn’t test exact numbers.

Other than the obvious improvements to Portable Mode, the main game itself looks better. The details in the grass definitely look better on Torna as compared to Gormott.

Thoughts on the improvements? Also what do you think of Torna – The Golden Country? I’m a few hours in and personally I like it a fair bit better than the original game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and its DLC Torna – The Golden Country are out now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
