Yakuza is a classic action brawler from Sega Japan that has long failed to gain a foothold in the western market. Sega stopped localizing the Yakuza game until Sony stepped up and offering to localize them. This resulted in Yakuza 5 and Yakuza Zero localization for the PS3 and PS4. It appears that Sega isn’t stopping at all costs and have now stepped up to localize Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 6 for the PS4.
Yakuza 6 is the sequel to Yakuza 5 while Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original Yakuza game, originally released for the PS2 and then later remastered for the PS3. This full remake has a complete graphics overhaul of the original Yakuza game. They are all confirmed to be released in the West for the PS4.
This means that next year, fans of the Yakuza series will be able to pick up two Yakuza games beginning with Yakuza Zero in early 2016 followed by Yakuza Kiwami in Summer 2017. This will lead into Yakuza 6 in early 2018 and hopefully more games are localized as they are announced.
Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 6 are currently confirmed as PS4 exclusive and will launch in Summer 2017 and Early 2018 respectively.
