Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi hyped up the announcement of a brand new title in the latest Sega-Nama broadcast that he claims will be “something truly different” and “turn things upside down”.
Nagoshi first teased that the next broadcast will be special:
The broadcast after Tokyo Game Show will be massive… We’ll discuss some new topics no one is going to expect.
The interviewer noted that the Yakuza studio often showcases announcements at the Sony pre-TGS conference or does their own presentation, so she asked him if we could hear about the new title next month which Nagoshi confirmed:
I understand that. The only clue I can give is that it’s something truly different.
That’s correct. It’s a new title announcement that will turn things upside down.
Nagoshi’s last project was Hokuto Ga Gotoku or Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise for the PS4. The game released in Japan back in March and will release in Europe and North America on October 2, 2018.
He further touched upon the game’s development and mentioned that its been in the planning stage for about three years.
Tokyo Game Show takes place from September 20 to 23, the aforementioned Sony conference takes place on September 10 so keep a lookout for more news about the project in-between these days.
It’ll be interesting to see what the father of Yakuza is up to next, personally I don’t think its another Yakuza game, probably a new IP considering its been in the planning stage for so long.
What do you think Nagoshi is working on? Let us know in the comments.
