Level-5 has made a special demo build of Yo-Kai Watch 4 for Tokyo Game Show 2018 that fans are currently playing. Footage of the demo shows the series moving to an Action RPG battle system.
Previous Yo-Kai Watch, released for the 3DS, were all turn based RPGs in a top down Pokemon-like overworld. Yo-Kai Watch 4 looks to be fully 3D and playable in third-person. It also looks a lot like on of Level-5’s other games – Ni No Kuni.
Series creator Akihiro Hino aims to “refresh the series” with the latest game. Expect to hear about more of the changes in the game in the coming weeks.
Yo-Kai Watch 4 will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in Japan this Winter. A Western release hasn’t been announced yet, but since previous games were localized, we expect this one to get the same treatment.
