Bioware’s upcoming Co-Op blockbuster will be online only according to the game’s executive producer Mark Darrah.
Anthem is currently in development for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game had a very strong showing earlier at EA’s press conference and could also make an appearance at Microsoft or Sony’s presser.

Darrah confirmed the news on Twitter that you need an active online connection to play the game.

This is the same for the game’s solo story missions, which will also require you to be online and connected to the game’s servers.
Many people claim that since the game’s primarily a co-op experience this was to be expected, while others are concerned about the game’s suppose years down the line.
