Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, confirmed during a Youtube Live interview that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is currently undergoing development. However, it is going to take quite a while.
“It’s still on the way,” Guillemot confirmed. “It’s something at one point you will see, yes.” Well, its been on the way for quite sometime now. The first Beyond Good and Evil was released way back in 2003. It was enough of a success, however, for Ubisoft to announce a sequel back in 2008. Very little was said about it at the time, but Yves Guillemot went on to confirm to Polygon that the game was still being made. Then again, that was all the way back in 2012. Four years later, Yves still confirms that the game will be released at some point in time.
“It’s difficult to say,” he continued. “Michel [Ancel, director of the original Beyond Good & Evil and the sequel] is working on it, but he’s doing two games at the same time, he’s doing Wild at the same time. It’s coming along, but he has to spend more time on it so we can see it faster.”
Well, at least it isn’t cancelled yet! There were rumours swirling around regarding Nintendo being able to fully fund a Beyond Good and Evil 2, as well as give it a release, exclusively for Nintendo NX. But these are allegations, neither of which Ubisoft or Nintendo have confirmed.
The first game was playable on the PS2, Xbox, PS3, Xbox 360, Gamecube and on Windows PC. Ubisoft have not announced what the sequel will be playable on.
