The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out on March 3rd but the press is already enjoying the game ahead of its official launch. The review embargo for the game will be lifted on March 2nd but the press is able to share their experience with the beginning few hours.
YouTube channel Arekkz Gaming has taken a look at the full world map for Zelda: Breath of the Wild and has calculated the time it takes him to traverse the whole world map. According to the video that he made, it took him around 28 minutes to travel from one point of the map to the end of it.
This was further analyzed by reddit users noob10 and HylianWarrior, who have taken the liberty to estimate the length of the map featured in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While this is by no means and accurate estimate for the map length, it is interesting to see because of the implications it provides for the open world in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
According to the calculations made by the user, this converts to ‘ 8.3 square miles/21.5 square Km or 5,300 Acres (1 Acre is approximately 1 Futbol (soccer) Field)’. There is also a comparison with the world map featured in The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim as seen below.
The world map in Zelda: Breath of the Wild is around 1.5 times of the area in The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Of course the whole world map isn’t really explorable with some areas being blocked by Water and other obstacles, but it is still an impressive result nonetheless.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out on March 3rd for the Switch and Nintendo Wii U.
