The shield has been a part of every Zelda game and has been one of the best shields in the series. The Hylian Shield makes its return in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, however, it is not so easy to obtain.

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, players can roam the world freely, without any restrictions. If you follow the story, then you should be able to get to the Shield’s hidden location easily, however, you can get the shield as soon as you’re done with the tutorial at the start of the game.
The Shield is located in the Hyrule Castle. The Castle is one of the toughest areas in the game, so it might not be a good idea to go looking for the Shield at an early stage of the game. Once you are at the Hyrule Caste, loop all the way behind it until you reach the hill. You will come across a broken bridge, travel to the west side of that bridge.
Once you cross the bridge, you need to jump down and glide to a platform that is spiraling down to the water below. There will be a Guardian at the platform, don’t not challenge it and just avoid it. Run to the door in front of you and enter the castle. The Guardian will chase you so hide to lose aggro.
Once inside the castle, players can open the gate in front of them by using a Cryonis Rune and proceed further. When players enter the gate, they will end up in a prison. This area will have locked up enemies in cells, so just progress through it until you see a door.
Enter the room and you will encounter a boss called Stalnox. When going up against Stalnox, players should aim for its eyes with a ranged weapon, and then use a melee weapon when he falls to the ground.
Once you defeat Stalnox, a loot chest will spawn. Open it up and collect your brand hew Hylian Shield. This is one of the best defensive gear in the game, and is completely worth all the trouble.
